The Greenhouse

In the manor garden west of the orangeries is Gammel Estrup’s historic greenhouse.

The house is a so-called “wine and peach house”, which was common at Danish estates around 1900. The greenhouse provided the household with fruit and vegetables and it was also a symbol of status, wealth and prestige.

The original greenhouse at Gammel Estrup was demolished during the 20th century, but Gammel Estrup The Danish Manor & Estate Museum has several photos of the greenhouse, which forms the basis of the newly built house.
